Man Pulled From Smoke Filled Flat

At 19:46 hrs this evening, Cornwall Fire Control received a call to a premise with smoke issuing from it with the occupant still inside. The call was made by a concerned neighbour who had been alerted to the fire when smoke alarms in the premise started sounding. Two appliances from Looe attended, Fire crews pulled the male occupant from the smoke filled flat. The flat involved measured 10 x 15 meters and was in a four storey building comprising of purpose built flats.
Once the occupant had been rescued, Fire crews returned to the flat and inspected the fire scene. The fire was out on the crew’s arrival and had started in the cooker. It is believed that the fire started when the occupant of the flat had fallen asleep whilst cooking. Ambulance treated the male casualty for smoke inhalation.
