Injured Man Being Rescued From Roof

This morning Cornwall Fire and Rescue service worked along side West country Ambulance paramedics, effecting the rescue of a casualty from a roof top in Hayle. A call was received from Ambulance at 08:01 hrs this morning requesting the Fire Services assistance in recovering a man with a knee injury off of a pitch roof two storeys high. One major appliance from Camborne and an Aerial Ladder Platform from Truro were mobilised to the incident along with an Operational Officer and a specialised Technical Rescue Officer. The casualty was located on the rear side of the property, however access to this area was restricted, the rescue was difficult and along with Paramedics, the rescue of the casualty was thoroughly planned. The Aerial Ladder Platform was set up to the front of Hayle Terrace to affect the rescue, a safety at height and confined spaces line rescue pack was set up as a secondary means of rescue. Once the casualty was securely located in a stretcher, at 09:30 this morning the casualty was lowered to the ground using the Aerial Ladder Platform.
