At 22:14 hrs this evening, Cornwall Fire Control received a call from a concerned neighbour whose smoke alarms were sounding. Two appliances were immediately mobilised from St Ives and crews were on scene within seconds as crews were returning to station from a previous incident. The incident was made ‘Persons Reported’ as it was believed that the elderly occupant was inside the premise. The two storey terraced cottage was smoke logged on the crews entry to the property; Fire crews entered the premise using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel. Crews located inside the building and rescued one elderly male from the smoke filled premise. The fire in the property was caused by cooking pans left on the cooker. Whilst the rescued casualty was being treated by West Country Ambulance crews, Fire crews ventilated the premise. This fire started accidentally.
