The Fire Service received a call to a farm in the Rising Sun, area of Callington.

Initial reports indicated a barn was on fire for which two appliances from Callington and one appliance from Saltash including a Wholetime Officer was mobilised.

On arrival the crews found a single storey workshop of 30 metres by 10 metres well alight, and requested further assistance. A further two appliances were despatched from Saltash and Bere Alston with a water carrier from Liskeard also being requested, with an additional Wholetime Officer.

Crews used two hosereels; one main jet four breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire, in all twenty seven fire fighters were on scene.

The Fire Service has now left the scene in the hands of the owner.

The fire was deemed to be arson, and the police were notified.
