Several calls were received for this incident, which involved a derelict hotel, initially both appliances from Newquay were mobilised, due to further information received the aerial ladder platform and an appliance from Perranporth were mobilised, on arrival at the scene the first appliance reported smoke and flames issuing from the property, subsequent information classified the incident as 'Persons Reported' and further resources were requested, appliances from Truro and St. Columb were mobilised, also the command support unit from Truro and the operational support unit from St. Austell.
Teams of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed at the scene and used main jets and high pressure hosereels to extinguish the fire.

Update at 1230 hours: The incident is ongoing at this time, further updates as and when further information is received.

Update at 1300 hours: The incident is still ongoing at this time, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are conducting a thorough search of the building.

Update at 1315 hours: The fire has now been confirmed as extinguished and all persons have been accounted for. The fire involved a derelict hotel consisting of three floors with approximately fifty bedrooms, the fire was on an upper floor a total of twelve firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed at the scene, they used main jets, high pressure hosereels and thermal image cameras to extinguish the fire and check the premises. West Country Ambulance and Devon & Cornwall Police were in attendance.

A Fire Investigation has taken place and the initial findings indicate that the incident is suspected arson.
