LIFE SAVING ABILITIES OF THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA WILL BE ON SHOW DURING OPEN DAY FOR ST MAWES FIRE STATION AT ST MAWES QUAY ON SATURDAY, 20TH JULY FROM 10.30AM – 4PM
The life saving abilities of Thermal Imaging Cameras will be on show at St Mawes Fire Station on Saturday, July 20th when members of the public are invited to gain a better insight into the work of the Fire Brigade .
A range of different aspects of firefighting will be demonstrated during the Open Day at St Mawes Quay , including the Brigade’s rigid inflatable boat, which is used to assist in fighting ship fires.
The importance of Thermal Imaging Cameras( TIC’s) in saving lives is well known and Cornwall County Fire Brigade has been equipped with a number of such cameras for several years.
St Mawes Fire Station does not have a TIC, however, and firefighters are hoping to buy their own camera by the end of this year. They are appealing to sponsors and members of the public to help them raise the £5,000 they need.
“ Ideally every first line fire engine should be equipped with a Thermal Imaging Camera, ensuring a camera will be present at every

incident from the moment the Fire Brigade arrives at the scene. “ said Station Officer Dave Rule, St Mawes Fire Station
“This will enable easier, faster access; an ability to determine the most effective way of intervention and help search and rescue”.
“These cameras also enable firefighters to find victims up to FOUR times faster than they would using traditional methods, and so are invaluable in locating victims of a road traffic accident who may have been thrown from the vehicle “.
Firefighters from St Mawes are planning a series of fund raising activities and hope as many people as possible will come along to Saturday’s Open Day and support them, at the same time as discovering how their local firefighters are working to protect them.
