Barn Fire
Holwood Farm, Blunts, Saltash at 06/10/2011 10:33
The Fire Service received a call to hay on fire in a barn at Holwood Farm. Two appliances from Saltash and Wholetime Officer attended the incident.
On arrival the crews made a further two appliances and a water carrier with fire involving 150 bales of hay in a 50m by 10 m barn of concrete construction.
One appliance from Liskeard and Callington attended with a water carrier from Plymouth also attending along with a further Wholetime Officer. The welfare vehicle from St Dennis also attended the incident.
The crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 2 high pressure hosereels, 2 jets and a hay handler to extinguish the fire by moving the hay to open ground and damping it down.
