At 0335hrs the service was called to a report of a fire in the lounge of a property in Blackwater, one appliance from Redruth and one from Camborne attended. The lounge was heavily smoke logged and the crews used four sets of breathing apparatus and two hosereels to extinguish the fire. Station Manager Stuart Whitworth said a smoke detector gave an early warning to the family of the fire and they also had a good nightime routine of closing all the doors to rooms in the property, which undoubtably limited the potential for the fire to spread.
