Firefighters from Camborne will be spreading the fire safety message along with Christmas cheer this week in Pool.
As well as providing help and advice, the crew from Red Watch will be staging a dramatic demonstration of the consequences of a chip pan fire.
Last year over half of all the house fires attended by Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service started in the kitchen, many the result of cooking being left unattended and catching alight.
Crew Manager Mike Warren from Red Watch Camborne, said: “We want everyone to have a safe and happy Christmas and that’s the message we’ll be taking to shoppers in Pool.
“Our firefighters will be on hand with some simple kitchen fire safety tips to help keep families safe this festive season.”
Firefighters will be carrying out chip pan demonstrations between 10am and 4pm at:
Homebase, Pool Industrial Estate, Station Road – Sunday 11 December
Tesco Extra, Station Road – Wednesday 14 December
B&Q, Trevenson Road – Friday 16 December
