At 0514 hours a call was received stating that there was smoke coming from a premises on Mount Wise, Newquay. At present we have pumping appliances from Newquay, St Columb and Perranporth in attendance and ancillary vehicles from Truro, St Dennis, St Austell, St Just and Bodmin supporting them. The building measures approximately 10m x 15m and at the height of the incident 3 jets and 5 breathing apparatus were in use.

Firefighters tackle fire in disused hotel
Residents of a block of flats were evacuated after fire broke out in a disused hotel in Newquay.
When firefighters from Newquay arrived at the scene they found the fire was well alight in a two storey extension at the rear of the former Pendennis Hotel.
Presented with strong winds, crews took the decision to evacuate around 10 people living in nearby flats and called for back up appliances from St Columb and Perranporth.
Specialist appliances from Truro, St Dennis, St Austell, St Just and Bodmin were also in attendance.
Five firefighters wearing breathing apparatus (BA) and three jets were in use at the height of the blaze and Police closed Mount Wise road during the course of firefighting operations.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
There are no further details available regarding this incident.
