Ship Fire

Falmouth Docks at 02/12/2003 16:56


On receipt of this call two appliances from Falmouth were mobilised to the incident. On arrival the ship was found to be the RFA Argus, a ship of approximately 70000 tonnes, with the fire in the boiler room uptake, the decision was then taken to make pumps 4. Further appliances from Truro and Redruth were mobilised to the incident also other Brigade resources. Crews of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using a jet were committed in the generator room. Personnel cooled down the area and were involved in cutting away. The fire was extinguished and the incident handed back to dockyard staff at approximately 1945 hours. Crews were delayed for a considerable time, the final appliances returning at approximately 2100 hours.
