Fire In Restaurant

Carvynick, near Summercourt at 02/02/2012 02:05

Two fire appliances from St Columb Community Fire Station and one fire appliance from St Dennis Community Fire Station with a total of 14 firefighters attended a report of a fire in a restaurant. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to extinguish the fire on the ground floor using one hosereel. A positive pressure ventilation fan was then used to clear the smoke from the two-storey building, measuring approximately 25 metres by 30 metres.

Arson is suspected and Devon and Cornwall Police have also attended the scene.

Anyone with information on fires being deliberately started are advised to anonymously call Crimestoppers free on 0800 555 111 or contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101 with information.

Arson puts both the public and firefighters at unnecessary risk. It ties up resources that could be in demand for other more serious incidents. A lot of Cornwall is covered by on-call firefighters so there is also a significant cost to each incident.
