Burnt Food In Microwave Oven

Station Road, Truro at 10/02/2012 19:40

Two fire appliances from Truro Community Fire Station (12 firefighters) attended with ambulance and police, a report from a neighbour of a smoke detector sounding in a flat. The caller stated that they could smell burning and that the occupant may still be inside.

The fire crews entered the lightly smoke-logged ground floor flat and found that food in a microwave oven had caught fire but the fire was now out. The occupant was led outside and cared for by ambulance personnel who conveyed them to hospital by ambulance as a precaution, possibly suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.

The firefighters inspected to ensure the fire was fully out and used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke.
