Bin Fire Close To Flats

Honey Street, Bodmin at 11/02/2012 01:19

Two fire appliances from Bodmin Community Fire Station attended a report of a fire alarm actuating in flats. A subsequent call stated that the alarm may have been triggered by a fire in a bin at the rear of the flats. The firefighters confirmed that the fire involving a bin was already out and they inspected to ensure the scene was safe. Arson is suspected and Devon & Cornwall Police have been informed.

Anyone with information on fires being deliberately started are advised to anonymously call Crimestoppers free on 0800 555 111 or contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101 with information.

Arson puts both the public and firefighters at unnecessary risk. It ties up resources that could be in demand for other more serious incidents. A lot of Cornwall is covered by on-call firefighters so there is also a significant cost to each incident.
