The Fire Service received a call to smoke issuing from a disused factory on Wellington Terrace in Truro, in which persons were reported.

Two appliances from Truro and a Wholetime Officer were mobilised to the incident.

On arrival crews found a derelict building with smoke issuing from the basement, crews made entry and rescued one 50 year old male from the building who was then passed to the care of the ambulance service.

Crews used 1 hose reel, 1 covering jet, 4 breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire, further to this the crews also deployed a positive pressure ventilation fan to vent the property.
