Truro firefighters and staff from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service headquarters will swap fire kit for sponges this Saturday (10 March) as they stage a charity car wash in the city.
Between 10am and 2pm, the crew will be on hand at Old County Hall on Station Road in Truro to clean cars in return for a donation to The Fire Fighters Charity.
Des Tidbury, Chief Fire Officer at Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The Fire Fighters Charity provides vital support for firefighters and we are pleased to support their work. So, why not let us take the hassle out of cleaning your car this week and help us raise money for charity at the same time.”
Loretta Spridgeon, from The Fire Fighters Charity, said: “Every 30 seconds in the UK, firefighters are called to an incident, putting their lives on the line and often sustaining physical injuries whilst carrying out their duties.
“The Fire Fighters Charity is here to help all Fire Service personnel during their times of need, by providing pioneering treatment and support services.”
