Falmouth Firefighters Team Up With National Magazine For Modified Car Event

at 26/03/2012 09:36

Young drivers and owners of modified cars are being given the chance to win a starring role for their prized motor in a national car magazine as part of an event at Falmouth Community Fire Station on Tuesday 27 March.

Organised by firefighters from White Watch at Falmouth, the event aims to promote road safety and includes a competition being run by Fast Car Magazine for best car.

The winning vehicle and its owner will then appear in the national magazine.

National statistics show young male drivers aged between 17 and 20 are seven times more likely to have an accident than other drivers, while one in five new drivers will have an accident within six months of passing their driving test.

“For many young drivers, their car is their pride and joy. We want them to put as much care into staying safe behind the wheel as they do in personalising and maintaining their vehicles,” said Watch Manager Martyn Addinall from Falmouth Community Fire Station.

“We are really pleased to have the support of Fast Car Magazine and hope to see many young drivers and their modified cars at the event.

All are welcome to the event, which starts at 6pm. Cars can arrive at the station from 5pm and the judging will take place at 9pm.
