Gorse and Trees Alight

One fire appliance from Truro Community Fire Station was mobilised to a gorse fire. On arrival the fire crew requested assistance and a fire appliance from Redruth Community Fire Station, that had just become available after dealing with an incident near St Day, was mobilised.
In all, twelve firefighters exinguished the fire involving gorse and a copse, using a jet and a hosereel. Electrical engineers from Western Power attended to deal with an electricity pole and cables that had been damaged by the fire.
Arson is suspected and Devon & Cornwall Police have been informed.
