Large Gorse Fire

Just after 0500 this morning Fire Control started to receive multiple calls to a large gorse fire in the area of Rosenannon Downs. At 0548 hrs a make up to ‘Pumps Six’ was made as the fire was being fanned by strong winds. At 0612 hours there were 6 major appliances in attendance from St Dennis, St Columb, Bodmin, Wadebridge, Padstow and Newquay. The incident was sectorised, two were supervised burning to natural breaks and the third was extinguished by fire crews using beaters to control the fire. At this time the cause is thought to be arson, Devon and Cornwall police have been informed.

At 08:26 hrs the stop from the incident was received, a total of 52 hectares of gorse was involved in this incident. Six fire crews remain on scene at this time checking hot spots and the surrounding areas.
