Posted at 0048hrs: We are currently in attendance at a single storey school fire in Penzance. We received one call to it at 2341.

Currently four pumps are in attendance, crews from Penzance, St Just, Falmouth and St Ives. At present we are using six breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets.

We will update you as we gain more information. This is all the information we have on this incident at this time.
Crews left the scene at approx 0200hrs and a fire investigation will take place this morning.

Update 0930hrs: A joint fire and police investigation is underway to gather evidence on this suspected arson fire.

Firefighters worked hard and have been very successful to limit the spread of fire in the roof, mainly to above the kitchen, office and store area. There is some smoke and water damage inside the school but this does not appear to affect the classrooms.

Once the fire and police investigations are complete, contractors will start to assess the damage.
