At 0043 hrs this morning Cornwall Fire and Rescue service received a call from Devon and Cornwall Police requesting our attendance at a two vehicle road traffic collision. Two casualties were severely trapped in one vehicle; fire crews from Truro and Camborne used two sets of crash rescue equipment to cut free one casualty before starting to free the second casualty. No persons were trapped in the second vehicle. There was 6 walking wounded treated by Ambulance crews on scene, two casualties were taken to hospital by Land Ambulance. A total of 9 people were involved in this collision. Details at at 01:20 hrs.
Update: Fourteen fire-fighters from Truro and Camborne released the second trapped casualty at 02:09 hrs. The casualty was left in the hands of Paramedics as crews made the vehicles safe.
As a result of the The A39 at Arch Hill, Truro is likely to remain closed for some time as a result of this incident.
