Whilst receiving the '999' call there was a loud crackling sound and the caller was cut off before giving the address. Fire Control was able to get the address from the telephone exchange and mobilised 2 appliances from St Ives. A further call from a member of the public was able to give a better location, upon arrival it was found that the access was difficult and the men had to proceed on foot. The fire was in the kitchen of the 2 storey cottage which was 6 metres by 15 metres. The water carrier was required and a further appliance. A team of breathing apparatus wearers entered the building using a jet.
