A total of fourteen fire fighters from St Mawes and Mevagissey attended a call to a fire in a boiler room in a hotel near Carne, Veryan. Fortunately a member of hotel staff extinguished the fire using a dry powder extinguisher before the arrival of the fire service. The two storey building involved measured 60 x 25 metres and Fire crews used a thermal imaging camera to inspect the fire scene, two breathing apparatus were also worn to help ventilate and clear smoke from the property. After investigation it was established that the fire had involved wires and trunking in the boiler room. Crews remained on scene until an electrical engineer made the scene safe.
