Cornwall County Fire Brigade are encouraging people to stay safe in the sun this summer and have produced a series of leaflets giving advice on preventing fires.
The Brigade is using the school summer holiday period, when thousands of visitors increase the population, to promote a variety of initiatives to ensure the county remains the safest place in which to live, work or visit.
Over the next few weeks staff from Cornwall County Fire Brigade will be available to give advice on any holiday fire safety issue, ranging from preventing countryside fires and BBQ safety to caravan and camping fire safety and small boat safety.
Leaflets can be obtained from any fire station and information is also available via the new website www.cornwall.gov.uk/fire
“We want everyone to enjoy their visit to Cornwall” said Sub Officer Stewart Whitworth. “By taking a short time to read the leaflets they can prevent a fire which could ruin their holiday, injure them or much worse”
