Person Suffers Effects of Smoke From Chimney Fire

One appliance from Penzance attended to extinguish a chimney fire using a stirrup pump and rods. One person suffered smoke inhalation and the crew administered oxygen until the casualty was left in care of ambulance personnel.

General Fire Safety Advice:
Do not under estimate the seriousness of chimney fires.
Have your chimney swept at least once per year.
Chimney fires can spread to the rest of the house with devastating effects causing injury or death.
