Ten fire appliances from mid-Cornwall are in attendance at a fire in a derelict hotel, measuring 50 metres by 50 metres. The fire has taken hold on the first and second floors. It is unknown if anyone is inside. Breathing apparatus, ladders and two jets are in use. The aerial ladder platform is also on scene and in use.
Update 0830hrs: The incident has been scaled down and two fire appliances from Newquay, two fire appliances from St Columb, one fire appliance from Perranporth, the operational support vehicle from St Austell and the incident command unit from Launceston remain in attendance. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have commenced a search, as it is known that people sleep rough inside the building at times.
At its height, two fire appliances and the aerial ladder platform from Newquay, two fire appliances from St Columb, one fire appliance from Perranporth, one fire appliance from St Dennis, two fire appliances from Truro, one fire appliance from Padstow, one fire appliance from Wadebridge, one fire appliance from Redruth, the operational support vehicle from St Austell and the incident command unit from Launceston were in attendance.

All persons have now been accounted for and breathing apparatus has been withdrawn. Fire appliances are starting to return to their home stations. A crew from Newquay will re visit the hotel later in the day to re inspect.
