One fire appliance from St Austell and one fire appliance from Fowey Community Fire Stations were mobilised to several reports of a caravan fire in the garden of a house. Gas cylinders were also believed to be involved.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used four hosereels to prevent the fire spreading to the adjacent property. The caravan was completely destroyed by fire and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders were confirmed to be involved. A large amount of garden waste was also on fire.

The fire was brought under control by 0430hrs and the fire crews remained on scene for a further 20 minutes, damping down.

Arson is suspected and Devon & Cornwall Police have been informed.
