Cooker Fire

St Benets close, Lanivet, Bodmin at 12/09/2012 15:24

Ten firefighters in two appliances from Bodmin attended a call to a semi detached two storey house with smoke issuing from its upstairs windows. Crews used a triple extension ladder to make entry to the first floor with two breathing apparatus and one hose reel. Crews entering the premise were being with a jet. Firefighters found a cooker fire on the ground floor in the property which was out on its discovery. Crews wore four breathing apparatus and used one positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the building. The original fire was confined to the kitchen of the premise, however smoke from the fire was through out the ground and first floor. When ventilating, a cat was rescued from the premise. Crews used small tools to cut away at the fire damaged area, ensuring it had not spread. This fire is believed to have started accidentally.
