At 15:09 numerous calls were received to a property on fire on Tregolds Lane, St Merryn, Padstow. Two appliances with eight firefighters from Padstow and one appliance from Wadebridge with six firefighters were mobilised to the incident. On arrival crews found a detached property measuring 10 x 6 metres with its garage well alight. The fire was spreading to the main house and due to the travel distance to this premise further appliance from St Columb with four, and Newquay with five firefighters was mobilised. Crews used four breathing apparatus, two main jets and two hose reel jets supplied by a hydrant to tackle the fire. There was concern of the fire spreading to 1200 litre heating oil in close proximity to the rear of the property which was being cooled by a ground monitor. The fire was contained to the ground floor of the premise, the first floor of the premise was smoke logged. At 16:06 hrs six breathing, two main jets, and one hose reels were in use alongside a thermal imaging camera. A property surveyor has been requested to attend this incident as a large crack has developed in one gable wall of the property.
At 16:40 hrs good progress is being made by fire crews.
