Two fire appliances from St Columb, one fire appliance from Padstow and one fire appliance from Newquay were mobilised to a report of wood on fire in a recycling yard. When the firefighters arrived they found that there had been a fire in a wood-chipping machine which had been extinguished by members of staff using foam fire extinguishers. The firefighters used one hosereel to damp down wood-chippings under where the fire had been to make the scene safe. It was thanks to the members of staff for quickly extinguishing the fire before it had a chance to spread to the tons of wood stored at the yard.
