Three Firefighters from Mevagissey remained on duty from 01:17 hrs this morning until 02:25 hrs assessing the level of the river which runs through the centre of the town. There was concern of the river bursting its banks, as the water was flowing 2 inches below the flood level. At 01:56 hrs crews reported that the rain in the area was easing and by 02:14 hrs water levels in the river were falling. A few properties in Chapel Square, Mevagissey were affected by flooding however there was little the fire service could do for these premises.
