Pony Rescued From Mineshaft

St Blazey at 26/12/2012 14:15

At 1415 Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service received a call stating a horse had fallen down a mineshaft. On receipt of this call, two officers including a technical rescue officer, and four appliances from St Austell and Bodmin were mobilised. This included the line rescue, and the rescue tender from Bodmin. On crews arrival they found one Shetland pony approximately 15 feet down a collapsed adit. Crews made an initial assessment as to how best release the pony who was not in distress. Air shore rescue poles, a triple extension ladder and lines were used to rescue the pony from the mineshaft. At 1632 the pony was successfully rescued and was reunited with its owner.
