On the initial call for this incident, one appliance from Launceston was mobilised, on arrival a further appliance from Launceston was requested, the chimney was found to be well alight and the roof space was smokelogged, crews used a 13.5 metre ladder to gain access to the roof, where firefighters using the safety at height equipment inspected the chimney, there were significant issues with the chimney to warrant an officer to check the premises for carbon monoxide, which proved negative. The premises were reinspected after midnight and declared safe.
