One appliance from Helston attended a report of a gorse fire in the Egloss area of Mullion. On arrival the crew asked for another pump and a four wheel drive vehicle to also attend. The fire was burning on two 100 metre fronts, the Helston appliance had two hose reel jets in use protecting ten wooden chalets. The front threatening the chalets was extinguished and appliances from St Keverne and Helston proceeded to extinguish the other burning front, firefighters used a further two hose reels and twelve beaters. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and details have been passed to Devon and Cornwall Police for further investigation.
