Living Room Fire

A total of seventeen crews on two appliances from Newquay and one appliance from Perranporth attended a call to alarms sounding in a block of flats. On crews arrival a living room in the block of flats was heavily smoke logged. Crews entered the building wearing two breathing apparatus, with a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera. A fire in a sofa caused by a cigarette was extinguished by firefighters. One casualty was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation by Ambulance crews. Once the fire had been extinguished a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke from the premise.
