Whilst carrying out Home Fire Safety Checks this afternoon five firefighters from St Austell came across a family who they believed were showing the signs of suffering from Carbon Monoxide poisoning. A young child had been suffering from headaches, firefighters used two breathing apparatus ans a gas detector to identify that there was a reading of 54 parts per million of carbon monoxide in the property. An ambulance attended to treat the casualties on scene. Fire crews established a woodburner was the source of the carbon monoxide, the fire in the burner was extinguished and crews ventilated the property.
