At 12:21 this afternoon a number of calls were recieved stating there was a fire in a chinese takeaway on Westgate Street in Launceston. Two appliances with nine firefighters attended the scene of the three storey building. The fire was in extraction piping at roof levels, initially crews used one hose reel, a thermal imaging camera and ladders to reach the fire. An 13.5 meter ladder and a safety at height and confined spaces pack was used to access the fire, crews were working from the roof level. A request was made for an Aerial Ladder Platform to attend from Newquay. At 13:36 hrs the fire was confirmed as being out, Fire crews successfully confined the fire to the extraction pipe and a small area of the buildings roof.
