Six firefighters from Torpoint attended a call to a van stuck in rising water with two occupants trapped in it. The vehicle had become stranded in the river whilst driving through an estuary ford. When the vehicle had become stuct the tide was rising and the occupants were unwilling to leave the vehicle as the water around them they believed was fast flowing. Heroically two firefighters from Torpoint donned dry suits and bouyancy aids and entered the rising water. The firefighters accessed the vehicle and reassured the occupants. After securing a tow line to the van a tractor from a local farm helped tow the transit from the ford and the rising tide. The occupants were rescued unharmed as a result of this incident.
