Firefighters from Newquay, St Columb, Truro, St Austell and Launceston are attending a fire in a three-storey building. The fire is believed to have spread to an adjoining annexe. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are gaining access to the fire to extinguish it using a hosereel and a jet.
Update at 1400 hours: The Operational Support Vehicle from St. Austell is now in attendance and the Incident Command Unit from Launceston will shortly be in attendance, Ambulance were requested to treat persons for the effect of smoke inhalation also Devon & Cornwall Police were requested for traffic control. Crews are cutting away areas and checking for fire spread at this time.
Update 1410hrs: The fire is now under control. The Incident Command Unit from Launceston is not required and is returning. Fire crews are continuing to cut away to ensure that the fire is fully extinguished and has not spread unseen. The fire started accidentally in a roof space at the rear. The person suffering smoke inhalation was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.
