Cooker Fire

Castle Horneck Road, Alverton, Penzance at 17/06/2013 08:58

Firefighters from Penzance attended a report of a cooker fire. The fire was out on their arrival and the crew inspected to ensure the scene was safe. The uninjured occupant was evacuated from the property by the fire crew.

A fire alarm could clearly be heard in the background whilst the 999 call was being taken by an operator in the Truro-based Fire Control. Undoubtedly, the early indication of a fire and subsequent calling of the fire service, meant that damage was kept to a minimum.

Smoke alarms are essential for every home and, if properly installed, are designed to give an early warning of fire to allow the best chance for occupants to escape. Please follow the link below if you would like a Home Fire Safety Check in your home.
