Manley road, Liskeard at 22/06/2013 21:22
At 21:22 hrs this evening, Cornwall Fire and Rescue service received a call to an Automatic Fire Alarm actuation in sheltered accommodation on Manley road, Liskeard. One appliance with six firefighters were mobilised to the premise, wearing two breathing apparatus crews entered a smoke filled flat in the complex and rescued an elderly gentleman. An ambulance was requested as the casualty was suffering from smoke inhalation; the casualty was later taken to hospital. The items burning had been left on top of a cooker; these were removed by fire crews and doused with water in the nearby sink. Once the fire was out a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke from the flat and the buildings corridors.
