Two fire appliances from Falmouth Community Fire Station attended a report that smoke could be seen coming from a barge moored alongside a quay.

The barge, approximately ten metres long by 3 metres wide, used for living accommodation was heavily smoke logged when the fire crews arrived. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went onboard the barge and located the fire which they extinguished using one hosereel. Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team also attended to provide waterside safety cover for the fire crews.

Firefighters remained at the scene damping down hotspots, clearing the smoke and investigating the cause of the fire, leaving the scene at 0110hrs.
