Several calls were received to a fire on the cliff at Black Head, overlooking St Austell Bay. One fire appliance from St Austell Community Fire Station attended and the fire crew allowed the fire involving high gorse to burn to a natural break, due to its difficult location.

Relief firefighters from Mevagissey, Fowey and St Austell remained at the scene monitoring the spread of fire throughout Saturday night and Sunday until late in the evening. The fire has died down with small areas still smouldering. A fire crew will return on Monday morning to check that the fire has burnt itself out.
