Roof Fire

Fire appliances from Bodmin, Lostwithiel and St Austell were mobilised to a report of a roof on fire. On arrival, it was confirmed that the roof space was well alight of a two-storey detached house, measuring 12 metres by 5 metres. Assistance was requested and a water carrier from Wadebridge, an operational support vehicle from St Austell and a welfare vehicle from St Dennis were mobilised.

Firefighters used six sets of breathing apparatus, two jets, two hosereels and ladders to deal with the fire. In total 35 firefighters were at the scene.

The fire was knocked down by 1600hrs with pockets of fire on the first floor remaining. The fire was fully extinguished by about 1845hrs and the last fire crew left the scene at 2130hrs.

A fire investigation team determined that the fire started accidentally.
