Fish and Chip Shop Fire

At 17:47 this evening a call was received to a chip fryer on fire in a chip shop on Fore street, Port Isaac. Two appliances from Delabole with eight crew, one from Wadebridge with four and a third major fire appliance from Bodmin with fiver crew were mobilised. The fryer was well alight on crews’ arrival and initially two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and one dry powder fire extinguisher was used. The chip shop was on the ground floor of a two storey building, at 18:22 a thermal imaging camera, two breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a covering jet connected to a hydrant was in use. Police were requested to attend to assist with crowd control, at 18:39 low expansion foam was in use to suffocate the fire. The fire was confirmed as extinguished at 19:23, crews will remain on scene for some time damping down and turning over using small tools.
