House Fire

Eastborne Road St Austell at 29/08/2013 00:42


On receipt of this call, appliances were mobilised to a large house fire. On arrival, crews reported flames issuing from the premises, the fire involved a large detached building consisting of two floors, measuring twelve metres by eight metres, the fire was on the first floor, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed using two main jets, the incident was classified as 'persons reported.'
A total of six appliances attended, from St Austell, Mevagissey, Fowey, St Dennis and Lostwithiel, also specialist resources from Falmouth, Launceston, Truro and St. Dennis attended. Residents were evacuated from the property. The premises were used as sheltered accommodation. At 0322 hours all persons were accounted for. At any time teams of fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus were using two main jets.

Update 0930 hours: Cornwall Fire & Rescue have a Fire Investigation Team on scene at this time are investigating with colleagues from Devon & Cornwall Police.
