At 16:04 this afternoon a call was recieved to a corn field on fire and a combine close to the fire was also smoking. Six fire fighters from Torpoint were mobilised along with six firefighters from Liskeard were mobilised to the incident. On crews arrival crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel on the combine to extinguish a small fire inside it. Two further jets were used to fight a fire front of 400 metres in standing corn. The jets were supplied from hydrants in a water relay. At 17:46 crews confirmed the corn field fire was extinguished, firefighters remained on scene for a further 20 minuted damping down.
