Nine firefighters on two appliances from Liskeard attended an interesting call to a property in which the occupant had lit a fire in a wood burner and almost simultaneously water had started coming through a ceiling in the property. On crew’s arrival the property was confirmed as having a chimney fire, the water coming from the ceiling was established as coming from a burst pipe which was connected to a back boiler on the wood burner. On crews arrival they extinguished the fire in the wood burner and used a stirrup pump and chimney rods to clear the fire. The water coming through the living room ceiling was affecting the electrics in the building, firefighters isolated the electricity supply until an emergency electrician and plumber attended the scene to make the property safe.
