Five firefighters from Penzance attended to assist Ambulance Paramedics with removing a casualty from a domestic premise. The casualty was immobilised on a spinal board on the first floor of a property and Ambulance paramedics were unable to get the casualty down stairs due to a narrow stairwell. Firefighters used small tools to remove the handrail from the stairs to allow the rigid spine board to be manoeuvred down to the ground floor. Once on the ground floor firefighters also assisted Ambulance Paramedics in removing the casualty to a land Ambulance.
