Five firefighters from Penzance were mobilised to a chimney fire at a property off of Boase Street, Newlyn. The property was down a tight lane and so a smaller land rover appliance from St Just was sent with four firefighters to assist getting equipment to the property. Crews initially used chimney rods and small gear to try to extinguish the fire from inside the property. Crews spent some time tackling the fire from inside however the difficult chimney meant that slow progress was made. At 20:38 crews confirmed that they could not extinguish the chimney from ground level - a triple extension ladder, roof ladder and lines and harnesses were used to attack the fire from the roof. At 20:51 hours crews confirmed the chimney fire had been extinguished.
